Michael Connelly writes:
I attempted two crime novels but did not finish either as I instinctively knew they were not worthy of being published. This process took about three years. The third attempt, which took about 3 years and was rewritten several times, became my first published novel.
I had also been a working journalist, writing everyday for about 12 years, before my first book was published. I don't think I would qualify as an overnight success.
Michael Connelly is the author of fifteen novels, including the acclaimed Harry Bosch novels. The first book in that series, The Black Echo, won the Edgar Award for Best First Novel. His next book, The Closers, is one of his best yet.
