Steve Brewer writes:
I started trying to write fiction while working in San Francisco for The Associated Press. The Dashiell Hammett influence, and all that fog. Wrote two very bad manuscripts which never went anywhere. A third was better and landed me an agent, but never got published. The fourth was Lonely Street, first in the Bubba Mabry series.
Steve Brewer is the creator of the comic Bubba Mabry private eye series and the Drew Gavin series. He spent 22 years in the newspaper business before turning to fiction full-time in 1997. A weekly humor column he writes for the Albuquerque Tribune is distributed nationally by Scripps Howard News Service.
